Position Description
Oversee both campuses' maintenance and upkeep. Execute general and preventative maintenance schedules. Ensure buildings and grounds are compliant with building codes and childcare licensing requirements. Coordinate with contractors as needed.

Environment: The Montessori School campus, including outdoor environments, are designated non-smoking/non-vaping zones. The school property may include animals (such as chickens, turtles, etc) and includes a pond property, hill, outdoor classrooms, and other areas that have dust, dirt, water, and possible allergens. Being able to work in these areas is required for this role to ensure the success of our school. Reasonable accommodations would be made for those who need them.
Physical: Standing, walking, sitting, bending, lifting up to 25 pounds, working outside in various weather conditions, carrying supplies, assisting employees, and desk/computer work are all essential job functions for this position.
Schedule: This position is part time, 15-20 hours per week, Monday-Fridays, 7:30 am-6 pm with occasional paid meetings/trainings from 6-8pm..
Compensation: The range for this position is $20 - $25 per hour and is commensurate with education and experience. This position is an hourly/non-exempt position.

Essential job responsibilities include:

- Learn and uphold all school policies and procedures
- Complete Body Safety, Mandated Reporter, and other safety training
- Perform regular walk-throughs of both campuses to ensure they are safe
Communication
- Report safety concerns to the Co-Directors immediately
- Protect student privacy in accordance with FERPA and school policies
- Report all safety concerns, suspected abuse or neglect, or failure to uphold school policies/procedures to the Co-Directors or the Board of Directors of TMS
- As a Mandated Report, report suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate Michigan agency in accordance with Mandated Report training
General Duties
- Inspects the building, grounds, and playground equipment
- Keep a maintenance communication log
- Schedule routine inspections as needed
- Follow local and state building codes
- Handle necessary repairs and maintenance

Position Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- At least three years of maintenance experience
- Experience with local building codes and childcare licensing requirements
- Ability to work during agreed-upon hours, which may include occasional evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the school and its constituents
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and child safety skills required
- Meet the physical requirements of this position detailed below
Preferred Qualifications
- At least five years of maintenance experience
- Experience in multi-site facilities management
- Diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings
- Body Safety training, Mandated Reporter training, CPR certification
