All-Year Montessori Classroom Offered at The Montessori School

A new All-Year Montessori classroom will be offered at The Montessori School’s Kalamazoo campus beginning with the 2019-2020 school year. The classroom will run from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and is intended for children ages 3-6 who attend the school full days and year-round.

The All-Year Montessori classroom is designed for students who participate in the preschool or kindergarten programs as well as before and after school care. By grouping these students into a single classroom, transitions between the childcare and classroom sections of the day will be eliminated. Children will arrive and depart at similar times, creating a more focused and cohesive environment for learning and bonding.

“The All-Year Montessori classroom offers families in need of a preschool or kindergarten program, as well as childcare, a 2-in-1 option,” said Ann Pilzner, Head of School for The Montessori School. “Creating a close, year-round community of children with similar schedules allows for more uninterrupted work time without mid-day pick-up and drop-off distractions. The classroom also gives families peace of mind that their children are able to enjoy their entire day with the same students and staff even during traditional before- and after-school times and the summer months for a three-year cycle.”

The classroom will be staffed by two teachers as well as an assistant, ensuring that a Montessori-trained teacher is in the classroom throughout the day.

New and returning students are welcome in the classroom. Capacity for the All-Year Montessori classroom’s initial offering beginning in the fall of 2019 is 20 students. The classroom will be expanded to 30 students for the 2020-2021 school year.

In addition to the new program and existing preschool, kindergarten, elementary, and childcare programs offered at its Kalamazoo campus, The Montessori School also offers Spanish bilingual preschool, kindergarten, and childcare programs at its Richland campus. Waiting lists for both campuses are forming now.
